Brandon Mashinter

Brandon was drafted in the 6th round of the Ontario Hockey League, 116th overall by the Sarnia Sting. Before the 2007-08 season Mashinter was traded to the Kitchener Rangers, and won the 2008 OHL championship with the Rangers. He scored the team’s lone goal in their Memorial Cup final loss to the Spokane Chiefs.

 

Mashinter signed as a free agent with the San Jose Sharks on March 3, 2009. He played in his first career NHL game on December 29, 2010 against the Minnesota Wild. Brandon also played for the New York Rangers and the Chicago Blackhawks. On December 13, 2015, Mashinter scored his first NHL goal in a 4-0 win against the Vancouver Canucks. Brandon appeared in a total of 64 NHL games, recording 5 points, and also skated in two games during the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs. Brandon also played an amazing 535 AHL games amassing 231 points, eventually becoming captain of the Rockford IceHogs in 2015/16.

 

With 12 years of professional playing experience, and learning from coaching greats Peter DeBoer, Todd McLellan, and Joel Quenneville, Brandon has a great wealth of knowledge to pass onto the next generation. 

 

Brandon has now moved onto the next step in his professional hockey career as an assistant coach for the Jacksonville Icemen in the ECHL.
